Meet Dorothy
The Maximalist Grandmillennial Artist
Dorothy Collier is the mixed media artist of Dorothy Art, a creative that brings a strong sense of maximalist grandmillennial vibes with every aspect of her life she decorates.Â
A painter first and foremost, Dorothy’s artwork becomes narrative when she create a sense of beauty on the canvas and in some pieces hopes to prompt the viewer into a child-like happiness. Her two favorite subjects are whimsical florals and animals with strong personalities. She uses simplistic elements to mirror her folk art influences and enjoys using quick gestural lines to give the vintage subjects a quirky, soulful voice.  Dorothy paints primarily in oil on board, acrylic, digital drawings, and most recently murals!
Maximizing on bright colors and using subjects with a nod to a fine chinoiserie style, Dorothy teaches her audience how to take timeless and traditional elements and turn it into a personal rainbow of eye candy in their homes.  From the oil painting she creates for your living room walls to a birthday celebration tablescape for her friends and family, Dorothy believes in surrounding oneself with colorful pieces and bringing out the extravagant from the ordinary.
While growing up in the south, running around her grandmother's antique shops, she quickly found a love for all things unique...and antique. Not waining from her grandmother's influences, Dorothy started her newest endeavor in early 2021, being your personal vintage shopper via her Instagram stories. She titles her outings #DorothyArtYAYorNAY where customers can follow along and vote items up or down for fun and bid to buy.
When she’s not painting in her studio at Arrow Creative, the non-profit for creative entrepreneurs Dorothy cofounded, she is interviewing for her podcast Positively Creative and showcasing how we can all squeeze the most out of every day using positive psychology, surrounding yourself with art and decor items that you love, traveling and exploring with friends and family, and celebrating what fuels each day to be positively creative.
