Happy Summer! Whew, how is it halfway through 2018 guys?! I feel that this year my spring and summer collections grew in brightness and shifted to a more whimsical time. I thought I'd share my recent inspirations with you!
Growing up with my mother as an artist and my grandmother as an antique shop owner, I have always loved handmade, particularly older pieces. Recently I have enjoyed incorporating those intricate "puts" or figurines that I have found throughout my antiquing trips within the shadowboxes. I want to highlight their stories of the past, giving them a renewed narrative in a 21st century bright and happy home.
Most recently I have been playing with digital drawings on my iPad Pro, and I am just LOVING IT! I hope to explore this process further, as it's allowing me more time to start and stop projects on the go or on the road, rather than the lengthy process of oil painting at the easel.
I cannot get away from Chinoiserie! My grandmother sold a lot of these pieces in her shops. The more vibrant and pastel tones really hit me with excitement, as I'm seeing a lot more color being added to our once 'shabby chic' home decor. The birds add natural movement and life to the composition, filling it with personality.
Enjoy! Keep the conversation going in the comments below. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you're enjoying these days.
